Mara Sopa Lodge is a well-established safari lodge situated on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, on the eastern side of the Masai Mara ecosystem. Designed around traditional African round houses with conical roofs, the lodge combines classic safari character with comfortable accommodation, mature gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Masai Mara Sopa Lodge is one of the established lodges in the Masai Mara area, offering a relaxed setting surrounded by mature trees and gardens. The main public areas and swimming pool are centrally positioned, while guest cottages extend along the hillside. The lodge provides 99 rooms, including suites, a honeymoon suite and interconnecting rooms, making it suitable for couples, families and groups.

Although the lodge is located just outside the reserve boundary, guests can access the Masai Mara through the Oloolaimutia or Sekenani gates.

How to Get There

Masai Mara Sopa Lodge is approximately 250 km from Nairobi and can be reached by road via Narok and the Masai Mara area. The lodge states that the drive from Nairobi takes approximately six hours, depending on road and traffic conditions.

By air, guests can fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Keekorok Airstrip, followed by a road transfer to the lodge. The lodge indicates approximately one hour’s flight time and around one hour’s transfer from the airstrip.
