This is an easy safari with one long travel day at the start and end. Game drives take place seated in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser, typically for two to four hours per session. The road transfer between Nairobi and the Mara takes around five to six hours each way, with rest stops built in. No technical terrain or strenuous activity is involved. Best Time to Visit
July through October is peak season for the Great Wildebeest Migration, with the heaviest river crossing activity in August and September. Outside this window, the Masai Mara’s resident lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo populations remain strong year-round, and the Talek River frontage at camp provides consistent wildlife activity regardless of season.
Getting There
This itinerary is entirely road-based. The drive from Nairobi to the Masai Mara covers approximately 225 to 270 kilometres and takes around five to six hours, running through the Rift Valley via Narok. Mtito Safari Camp sits on the Talek River, a short drive from the Sekenani area, one of the reserve’s most direct access points from Nairobi. The same private vehicle and driver-guide handle the return transfer to Nairobi on Day 4.

Between July and October, the day can be positioned toward the Mara River crossing points for a chance at the Great Wildebeest Migration. Outside this window, the Talek corridor’s riverine forest and open plains produce consistent sightings of lion, leopard and elephant year-round.
