Flying SafariRift Valley Women Only Safari | 7 Days Naivasha to the Masai Mara
About this safari
An unhurried women-only journey through the Great Rift Valley, from the waters of Lake Naivasha to three restorative nights at Mara Elatia in the heart of the Masai Mara.
Every one of our women’s journeys begins the same deliberate way: a night inside the Wangari Maathai Wing at Sarova Panafric, Kenya’s first hotel wing reserved solely for female guests. Six ensuite rooms, a female-only staff that extends to housekeeping, room service and security, and quiet design details, from the yoga mat to the portrait of Wangari Maathai herself, built around one purpose: comfort and ease from your very first night in Nairobi.
Your vehicle, your guide and your pace: this journey is built for the solo female traveller or for the women you choose to bring along, entirely yours from start to finish. From Nairobi, the route drops into the Rift Valley proper, past Lake Naivasha’s lodge grounds where giraffe and zebra graze freely, on to Lake Nakuru’s rhino sanctuary, and into three full nights at Mara Elatia, one of the Masai Mara’s most rewarding tented camps.

Depart Nairobi in the late morning for the short, scenic drop into the Great Rift Valley, arriving at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in time for lunch. The lodge grounds themselves are unfenced, and it is entirely possible to watch giraffe, zebra and waterbuck grazing the fairways of the golf course from your veranda. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, gliding past pods of hippo and dense flocks of fish eagle, cormorant and kingfisher along the shoreline, before returning to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Frequently asked questions
What should I pack for the safari?
Pack light, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, green, brown), comfortable closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with extra batteries. Evenings can be cool, so bring a light jacket.
How is this itinerary different from your 8-day women's safari?
This route trades Samburu for a shorter, gentler pace: one fewer destination, one fewer internal flight, and the same three unhurried nights in the Masai Mara, just reached via the Rift Valley instead of the north.
Can I book this safari as a solo traveler?
Yes. Solo travelers have the vehicle and guide entirely to themselves, or may invite their own companions to travel together. A single supplement applies; ask us for current rates.
What is the Wangari Maathai Wing at Sarova Panafric?
It's a dedicated women-only floor at the Sarova Panafric hotel in Nairobi, named for Wangari Maathai, Africa's first female Nobel Peace Prize laureate and founder of the Green Belt Movement, with its own access control.
Is this itinerary suitable for a first-time safari traveler?
Yes. The pace is intentionally gentle, with fewer transfers and three full nights in one camp in the Masai Mara, making it a comfortable, low-logistics introduction to safari.
When can we see the wildebeest migration on this itinerary?
The Great Wildebeest Migration Mara River crossings occur between July and October, with the heaviest activity in August and September, covered during your three nights in the Masai Mara.
Can this itinerary be adapted for a private group of friends?
Yes. This exact route can be run for your own group on a date of your choosing. Ask us about departures and group rates.
