About the Property
Breezes belongs to the family-owned Zanzibar Collection alongside its more exclusive neighbours The Palms, Baraza and Zawadi — properties that have hosted guests from Bill Gates to visiting royalty. The style here is barefoot colonial-Swahili: whitewashed bungalows and lush tropical gardens opening onto a wide white beach, with hand-carved furniture, four-poster beds and antique detailing throughout. The heart of the resort is a swimming pool set among palms, with dining and bars ranged along the beachfront so that almost everything looks out to the Indian Ocean.

Location
The resort sits on the south-eastern shore near Bwejuu village, the calmest and least developed part of Zanzibar’s coast, backed by palm groves and fronted by a broad reef-protected beach. The village of Bwejuu is about ten minutes away, Stone Town and the airport around 50–55 minutes by road. Like all of Zanzibar’s east coast, the beach here has pronounced tides — glorious wide sand at low tide and swimmable lagoon at high tide — and the offshore reef makes for excellent snorkelling and diving.
Accommodation
The 74 rooms are arranged in ground- and first-floor bungalows and are largely identical in size and Zanzibari décor, with the Suites adding a walk-in dressing room and a larger bathroom. Every room has air-conditioning and ceiling fan, a private balcony or terrace, four-poster bed with mosquito net, en-suite bathroom with hair dryer, minibar/refrigerator, tea/coffee facilities, safe, sofa bed and free Wi-Fi. Deluxe Rooms are the family-friendly category (kids stay free), while Suites offer extra space and comfort for honeymooners and longer stays.

Dining is a highlight of the Breezes experience, spread across several venues: The Sultans Table pairs Indian and Swahili spices with the day’s best seafood in a striking ocean-view setting; the Breakers Grill serves barbecue and catch-of-the-day on the beach beneath the palms with a live grill and tandoor; The Tides offers private candlelit dinners for two on the sand; and the main restaurant covers buffet and à la carte. Bars include the candlelit Safari Bar, the Dhow/Pool Bar, the Baraza fine-whisky-and-cigar bar, and the Chai Room for tea, coffee and cakes on Zanzibari daybeds. Cooking demonstrations (make your own Swahili coconut chicken curry) are a guest favourite.
