Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge is perched high on the western escarpment inside Lake Nakuru National Park, with sweeping views across the park’s woodlands and the shimmering lake at its centre. About the Property

The lodge is built in classic Sopa safari style using local stonework and earth-toned finishes, with 60 en-suite rooms arranged in low-rise blocks spread along the hillside so that every room faces the park and lake below. The property belongs to the well-established Sopa Lodges collection, known across Kenya and Tanzania for comfortable, good-value safari lodges in prime wildlife locations. Buffalo, zebra, baboons and other wildlife regularly wander near the grounds, and the elevated bar terrace is a favourite spot for sundowners while watching game movements on the plains below.

Location

The lodge sits on a ridge on the quieter western side of Lake Nakuru National Park, reached via a 21 km all-weather road from the park gate. Because the park is compact, staying inside it makes a real difference: guests avoid gate queues and long transfers and can be among the wildlife at first light. Nakuru town is a short drive away, Makalia Falls viewpoint is about 11.5 km, and the wider Rift Valley circuit (Lake Elementaita, Lake Naivasha, Menengai Crater) is within easy day-trip range.

Accommodation

All 60 rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, positioned to face the park and lake. Each has a private terrace or balcony, en-suite bathroom with shower, premium bedding, telephone, minibar, hair dryer, in-room safe, complimentary bottled water and daily housekeeping with turndown service. Two pairs of interconnecting rooms suit families, and two rooms are fully wheelchair accessible. There are no in-room TVs — the view is the entertainment — though Wi-Fi is available.

The large main restaurant serves buffet and set-menu meals blending international cuisine with Kenyan dishes, with meals timed around game drives and taken against panoramic park views. Get There

• By road from Nairobi: ~165 km / 2.5–3 hours via the A104 to Nakuru, then into the park; the lodge is 21 km from the park gate on an all-weather road.
• By air: 30-minute scheduled or charter flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Naishi Airstrip inside the park, followed by a ~15-minute road transfer to the lodge (transfers can be arranged at a surcharge).
