Sleep Under the African Stars in One of Kenya's Most Exclusive Conservancies

Why Loisaba Conservancy?

Nestled within the spectacular landscapes of Laikipia County in northern Kenya, Loisaba Conservancy is one of Africa’s leading conservation destinations and among the most exclusive safari experiences in East Africa. Spanning approximately 58,000 acres of protected wilderness, Loisaba Conservancy lies between the snow-capped slopes of Mount Kenya and the vast northern rangelands, creating an extraordinary habitat for wildlife and one of Kenya’s most successful conservation models.

Internationally recognised for combining luxury tourism, wildlife conservation, community empowerment, and sustainable land management, Loisaba Conservancy is managed in partnership with local communities and conservation organisations. The conservancy plays a vital role in protecting critical wildlife migration corridors linking central Kenya with the country’s northern ecosystems, ensuring that Loisaba Conservancy remains a benchmark for responsible tourism.

Unlike many traditional national parks, Loisaba Conservancy offers an intimate safari experience with low vehicle density and exclusive access to pristine wilderness. Visitors can enjoy private game drives, off-road wildlife tracking, night game drives, guided walking safaris, horseback safaris, camel safaris, mountain biking, and scenic helicopter excursions. These exclusive activities have made Loisaba Conservancy one of the most sought-after luxury safari destinations in Kenya.

Loisaba Conservancy is renowned for its thriving populations of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, and endangered African wild dogs. The conservancy is also home to the Loisaba Rhino Sanctuary, established to support the recovery of critically endangered eastern black rhinos within the Laikipia ecosystem. Through these initiatives, Loisaba Conservancy has become one of Kenya’s most important wildlife sanctuaries and a globally recognised conservation success story.

One of the most iconic experiences at Loisaba Conservancy is the world-famous Star Beds, where guests sleep beneath the African night sky on handcrafted wooden platforms overlooking active wildlife corridors and waterholes. This unforgettable experience has become one of Kenya’s signature luxury safari attractions, drawing visitors from around the world to Loisaba Conservancy.

The landscapes of Loisaba Conservancy are as diverse as its wildlife. Rolling grasslands, acacia woodlands, rocky escarpments, river valleys, and dramatic viewpoints create breathtaking scenery and exceptional photographic opportunities throughout the year. Sitting at elevations of approximately 1,800 to 2,000 metres above sea level, Loisaba Conservancy enjoys a pleasant climate that makes it an ideal year-round safari destination.

Birdwatchers visiting Loisaba Conservancy can spot more than 350 recorded bird species, including raptors, migratory birds, and several northern Kenya specialities. Wildlife photographers are equally rewarded by the conservancy’s open landscapes, excellent predator sightings, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and low vehicle numbers that provide uninterrupted viewing opportunities.

Conservation extends beyond wildlife at Loisaba Conservancy. The conservancy works closely with neighbouring Samburu and Laikipia communities by supporting education, healthcare, employment, livestock management, and community-led conservation projects. Every visitor to Loisaba Conservancy contributes directly to these initiatives through conservation fees and sustainable tourism.

Whether you’re planning a luxury honeymoon, a family safari, a wildlife photography expedition, or a conservation-focused holiday, Loisaba Conservancy offers one of Kenya’s finest safari experiences. With exceptional wildlife, world-class luxury lodges, the iconic Star Beds, and an unwavering commitment to conservation, Loisaba Conservancy has earned its place among Kenya’s premier private conservancies and Africa’s most remarkable safari destinations.
