Flying Safari4 Days Masai Mara Eco Safari | Emboo River Camp
About this safari
Three nights on the Talek River at Kenya’s first fully electric safari camp, with silent, zero-emission game drives, farm-to-fork dining and a genuinely carbon-conscious footprint.
Emboo River Camp is Kenya’s first camp with a full fleet of electric safari vehicles, running converted, solar-charged Land Rovers and Land Cruisers that move through the bush in near silence. The wildlife notices the difference: without engine noise, animals behave more naturally and vehicles can sit closer, for longer, without disturbing a sighting. The camp itself runs entirely on solar power, grows much of its own food in a vertical hydroponic garden, and recycles its wastewater through a natural reed-bed system, all without giving up the comforts of a proper safari camp: nine river-facing suites, a pool overlooking the Talek River, and a spa.
This itinerary is built for travellers who want their safari to match their values without compromising on wildlife time: three full nights on the Talek River, two full days of electric game drives, and a close look at what a genuinely low-impact safari camp looks like in practice.

Practical Information:
Physical Requirements
This is an easy safari with scheduled flight from Nairobi, Wilson to Masai Mara and back. Game drives take place seated in Emboo’s electric 4×4 vehicles, typically for two to four hours per session, with the same open-sided game-viewing configuration as a conventional safari vehicle. The road transfer between the Airstrip and the Mara takes around 30 minutes each way. Emboo River Camp welcomes children aged 5 and older.
Best Time to Visit
July through October is peak season for the Great Wildebeest Migration, with river crossings possible at both the Talek and Mara rivers, both within easy reach of camp. Outside this window, the surrounding reserve holds strong resident wildlife year-round, including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and hippo regularly spotted from camp itself.
Getting There
This itinerary is fly-in Masai Mara based. The flight from Nairobi to the Masai Mara covers approximately 270 to 290 kilometres and takes around 40 to 45 minutes, flying over the Rift Valley. Emboo River Camp sits inside the Masai Mara National Reserve on the Talek River. The same private vehicle and driver-guide handle the return transfer to Airstrip on Day 4, plus all game drives during the stay using the camp’s own electric fleet.

What guests say about this safari
Christina H
TripAdvisor · Oct 2025Truly amazing experience We had a fantastic time in Kenya on our 10-day safari! Hellen’s support was perfect from the planning of the trip to its execution. She was always available and responded very quickly to all questions. Among many other things, she also organized a balloon safari in the Maasai Mara for us. Nicholas, our guide and driver, was truly amazing! He showed us an incredible number of animals — including the Big Five — and we saw them up close. We also learned a lot about the country and its culture. The lodges and camps were all very beautiful and wonderfully located. I have celiac disease which can make traveling difficult. However, Hellen und Nicolas really put my mind at ease by ensuring that all lodges were informed and prepared accordingly and I always had plenty of options to choose from. They even went above and beyond to organize a birthday surprise with a gluten free birthday cake for me.
